Hol Chan and Caye Caluker Day Tour

Hol Chan and Caye Caulker day tour includes Hol Chan marine reserve, shark ray alley, coral garden, snorkel with manatees, Caye Caulker, look at sea horses and feed the tarpons and sunset if requested.

The tour starts by you meeting us at our tour center or pick up at your resort. Once on board it is about 15 minutes to our first snorkeling stop known as Hol Chan Marine Reserve. Hol Chan is a Mayan word that means "small channel". Here, our tour guides will distribute your snorkeling equipment and show you how to properly use them. Also, you will get a briefing on how the snorkeling will be conducted rules and regulations we will need to follow. We will spend approximately 1 hour. There are a lot of schools of fish like snappers, horse eye jacks, spotted eagle rays, and many more. It's like being inside a huge aquarium. The water depth is 8 feet. Then our second stop is snorkeling with the puppies of the sea, the nurse shark. Nurse sharks are bottom feeder sharks, not predators. At Shark Ray Alley, you can enjoy seeing them from the boat or you could get in the water to enjoy their company. The third stop is the Coral Garden. Coral Garden is a beautiful patch reef system about one mile long. There are a lot of coral formations all over the examples include elk horn coral, brain coral, and sea fan. Here, you have the choice to anchor and swim, return to the boat or drift snorkeling. Drift snorkeling: you snorkel at any direction you like, and the captain will keep his distance and follow you until you are ready. Once you are ready, the captain will pick you up where you are. The third activity is looking for manatees and snorkel with them once they are found. Manatees are very friendly mammals that spend most of the time sleeping or eating. They usually come to the surface to breathe every 10 to 15 minutes. After seeing the manatees, we will take you to our neighboring island called Caye Caulker where you will have the time to purchase your lunch and explore the island. We will feed the tarpons there and look at sea horses, and if you wait until sunset, we will go to stingray city to look at Caribbean Sea and southern stingrays being fed. Sunset is available once requested at no extra cost. Once on board if you are ready to head back to your resort or hotel takes only 30 minutes. In the day tour, you choose the starting time and return time. For each activity, you could stay as long as you like. You could start as early as 7:30 a.m. to sunset. Again, you choose the time that you and your family will like to start and return.
