Cave Tubing and Altun Ha
We start by picking you up at your resort or meeting us at our tour shop. Pickup time will be given to you depending on where you are staying. Once we pick you up, we will take you to breakfast. You have the option to fly over to the mainland or take a water taxi. After breakfast, we will check in at the airport 30 minutes prior to the scheduled flight or water taxi departure. If you choose to fly over, it is a 15-minute flight from San Pedro to Belize City and back. The flight takes 15 minutes to get to Belize City. If you choose the water taxi option, it is a 1 hour and 30 minutes. In Belize City, you will meet your guide for the day. From Belize City to Altun Ha Maya Site, it is approximately 1 hour drive north. Once on the Maya site Altun Ha, your tour guide will take you for a walk around the area and give you the full history of the Maya site, and you could climb on top of the Maya temple altar, which is approximately 55 feet in height. After you finish the climb and return to the vehicle, it will be approximately 1 hour to drive to the village of Frank Eddy for lunch. After lunch is about a 15-minute drive from where you will conduct your cave tubing activity. Your guide will take you to get your equipment for the cave tubing activity. It takes about 20 to 30 minutes to walk through the jungle trail before you reach the entrance of the cave system. Once at the entrance of the cave system, your tour guide will tie your inner tubes together, and he will guide you through the cave system, giving you all the history and information about the cave system while flowing down a river through the cave system for approximately 45 minutes and another 20 minutes out of the cave system through the jungle. Once you reach the area where you get out of the river, it will be a 5-minute walk to the area where the bathroom and vehicle are. You will have time to change your wet clothing into dry clothing. From the cave tubing area to Belize City, it is another 1 hour ride to the Belize City municipal airstrip. You will be checked in and fly back to San Pedro, where one of our staff will pick you up and take you back to your resort.
