Hol Chan, Sharkray Alley & Fishing
Our tour begins with pickup from your resort or a meeting at our tour center. Once aboard, your guide will take you to a prime fishing spot. The reef fishing tour is conducted within the barrier reef system or artificial reef. We'll anchor to stabilize the boat and provide instruction for those new to fishing. Expect to catch a variety of fish, including snapper (red, silk, mangrove, black, mutton), grunt, barracuda, amberjack, and horse-eye jack. After 3-4 hours of fishing, your guide will clean your catch, which you can take to a restaurant or cook at your hotel. We'll also enjoy a lunch break in San Pedro. Our tour then continues to Holchan Marine Reserve, a Maya word meaning "small channel." Here, you'll receive snorkeling equipment and instruction, along with a briefing on safety and regulations. Snorkeling lasts approximately one hour and offers a diverse underwater experience, including schools of snapper, horse-eye jack, spotted eagle rays, barracuda, nurse sharks, butterfly fish, and angel fish. The water depth is around 8 feet. Our second stop is Shark Ray Alley, where you can observe nurse sharks from the boat or enter the water for a closer encounter. These bottom-feeding sharks are not predators. After your adventure, we'll return you to your resort.
